Guidelines for Participation in the
TECH PREP DUAL CREDIT PROGRAM
| What is the Tech Prep Dual Credit Program? |
|
· The TPDC program is an opportunity for eligible junior and senior students to earn both high school and college credit concurrently. · Upon successful completion of an approved course, students will be awarded credit at their respective high school and also credit at South Suburban College, Moraine Valley Community College, Prairie State College or Joliet Junior College. A grade of A or B must be earned in the high school course for credit to be granted at the college level.

| What are the advantages of enrolling in the Tech Prep Dual Credit Program? |

· By beginning an official college transcript now, student’s grades earned in dual credit classes will be part of their record throughout college years and beyond. * tuition costs are saved

| What are the participation criteria for a successful dual credit experience? |
Students must: · Demonstrate emotional maturity and good study habits · Complete the Tech Prep/Dual Credit Approval Form and obtain consent of a parent or legal guardian · Complete the appropriate college application/registration form · Understand and discuss progress and grades with teachers and parents · Be of junior or senior status in high school

| Are there any restrictions on Tech Prep Dual Credit Program participation? |
· Students under the age of 16 need special permission of the authorities at their high school and the appropriate college · International or exchange students are not eligible · Students must complete all courses with a grade of “B” or better to be eligible to obtain college credit. Students who obtain a grade of “C” or below will be withdrawn from the college course(s).
