| What is Dual Credit? | |||||
This is an opportunity offered to eligible high school juniors and seniors to earn both high school and college credit, FOR THE SAME APPROVED TECH PREP CLASS, AT THE SAME TIME. Upon successful completion of an approved tech prep course, students will be awarded credit at their respective high school and also credit at South Suburban College, Moraine Valley Community College, Prairie State College or Joliet Junior College (see below for lists of courses at these colleges). A grade of A or B must be earned in the high school course to be granted credit at the approved college. |

| Which classes are approved for Dual Credit? | |||||
| South Suburban College, Moraine Valley Community College, Prairie State College and Joliet Junior College are granting Dual Credit for a variety of tech prep courses. There are presently 27 Tech Prep Dual Credit Agreements approved for high schools in the CDS region. | |||||

| What are the advantages of enrolling in a Dual Credit program? | |||||
By beginning an official college transcript now, student's grades earned in dual credit classes will be part of their record throughout college years and beyond.

| Does every student enrolled in these classes receive Dual Credit program? | |||||
Students must apply in advance for the dual credit. There is criteria for the student, and an application form that eligible students must complete. In addition, students must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian. |

| Where does a student get a Dual Credit application? | |||||
Students in approved tech prep courses are given the opportunity to apply for Dual Credit through their high school instructor. |

This is an opportunity offered to high school students to BE ELIGIBLE to earn college credit for an approved tech prep class, at a pre-determined local community college. |

| Which classes are approved for Articulated Credit? | |||||
Besides the courses discussed above in the "Dual Credit" section, there is one negotiated Articulation Agreement for Joliet Junior College. |
